Recently, a virus has spread within the framework of the information warfare, which changes the settings of DNS servers on your computer, mainly as follows:
Preferred DNS Server: |
185.192.111.210 |
Alternate DNS Server: |
37.59.58.122 |
Why is it dangerous?
By changing the settings of DNS servers, the attacker gets the opportunity to redirect you to phishing websites, steal passwords and financial data. Unwanted ads in the form of pop-up windows may appear in the browser.
How to protect yourself?
In order not to fall victim to such scams, we suggest following the tips below:
- If you have chosen Microsoft Windows as the main operating system for your computer, it is advisable to use Windows 10 as a default OS, since the manufacturer has discontinued the support of Windows XP and Windows 7.
- Use only licensed software.
- Use an updated version of any popular antivirus system.
- Check your DNS server settings regularly.
To check your computer's DNS settings and to configure them accurately, go to Control Panel, select Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change Adapter Settings. Right-click the network interface that connects Windows 10 to the internet, and select the Properties option. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4), click the Properties button, and then get the option shown in the picture and save the selection.
